About Our Research Study
Participate in a University of Illinois research study that focuses on individual differences in response to recreational drugs and factors that are related to changes in behavior among healthy young adults. We know very little about how recreational drugs impact feelings, behavior, and cognition. This study will help us to better understand the effects of recreational drugs on feelings, behavior, and how people think. By joining our research study, you could help researchers examine how different individuals react to recreational drugs. |

The goal of the study is to understand how people’s feelings and behavior may respond to different recreational drugs.
You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria.

- 18-25 years old
- body mass index of 19-26 (normal/overweight but not obese)
- medically and neurologically healthy
- not taking psychoactive medications
Participants will be asked to take part in a screening visit, a brief physical, and 2 visits in which participants will receive a study drug and then do electroencephalography (EEG) and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to non-invasively measure cognition.
Participants will be randomized to receive one of the study drugs at the two drug administration visits: 1) stimulant, 2) sedative, 3) cannabinoid, or 4) placebo.
The total time that you will be involved in this study is 3 visits over approximately three weeksto two months. You are expected to be in the study for about 15-16 hours total.
