Additional Information
Why is this research important?
Many people may have to take medications while they are pregnant to manage a health condition. They may also need to get a vaccine during pregnancy in order to protect themselves and their baby from diseases. Everyone deserves to have information about the safety of the product they are taking when it is used during pregnancy.

Am I eligible to participate in a study?
You may qualify for this study if you meet the following criteria.

Eligibility Criteria:
  • Currently 1-20 weeks pregnant
  • 18+ years old
What will happen if I participate in the study?
Participants are asked to:

  • Complete 1-3 phone interviews during pregnancy and at least 1 interview after delivery.
  • Release the medical records for their pregnancy and for their baby (medical records are used to capture information about a person’s health as the pregnancy progresses and the health of the baby after delivery).
  • Complete surveys about the baby’s health, growth, and development for a period of time after the baby is born.

In addition, some studies offer in-home or virtual pediatric exams and/or neurodevelopmental assessments that can also provide insight into the child's development.

What are the Benefits of Participating?

There are a number of benefits to participating in MotherToBaby Pregnancy Studies, including:

  • Access to our specialists to answer any questions about exposures during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
  • Certain studies offer a free in-home or virtual infant exam by one of our pediatric specialists, and others may offer assessments of your child’s development. These assessments may offer you reassurance about your child’s growth and could offer important information to discuss with your pediatrician.
  • Contributing to research data that is published in medical journals and included in medication labels, which can then be used by health providers, you, and others like you when navigating treatment decisions in pregnancy.
  • Satisfaction and pride from helping improve the health of future parents and babies.
Will it cost me anything to participate in this study?
There is no cost for you to participate in the study.
