Researchers at the New York State Psychiatric Institute want to learn more about mental health through a research study! Individuals who have experienced unusual thoughts, experiences, or feelings or have a family member living with schizophrenia or psychosis may qualify.

Study Background
The New York State Psychiatric Institute is conducting research studies aimed at better understanding schizophrenia and how unusual thoughts, experiences, and feelings may change over time.

If you have unusual thoughts, experiences, or feelings or have a family member with schizophrenia or psychosis, you may be eligible to participate in a study. Be a part of furthering research on schizophrenia!

Why are these studies being done?
Our research is aimed at learning more about how unusual thoughts, experiences, or feelings change over time. We hope to further research on schizophrenia.
Are these studies for me?
You may qualify for a study if you meet the following criteria.

Eligibility Criteria:
  • Age 14-30
  • Have unusual thoughts, experiences, or feelings OR have a family member with schizophrenia or psychosis
What will happen if I participate in the study?
  • 2-3 hours of interview over the course of 1-2 visits at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) /New York State Psychiatric Institute (NYSPI)
  • These visits can also be done remotely or over video
Will I be paid for being in this research study?
As a participant you can receive $50 as well as reimbursement for local transportation to research appointments.
Will it cost me anything to participate in this study?
There is no cost for you to participate in our research program.
