Researchers believe that depression is associated with abnormal decision-making processes. However, little is known about how these processes are reflected in the brain.
This study examines how adults with a history of depression, who are currently not depressed, make decisions in a laboratory setting and everyday life. This study also examines the brain processes that are associated with different decisions. Learning more about these processes could allow researchers to identify new treatment targets for depression.

Additional Information
The purpose of this study is to learn more about how adults with a history of depression make decisions in a laboratory setting and in everyday life. The findings from this study will be used to improve the diagnosis and treatment of depression.
You may qualify for this study if you meet the following criteria.

- 18-45 years old
- Right-handed
- At least one past episode of depression
- No current depression
- Not currently taking any psychiatric medication
This study involves four sessions: three virtual sessions and one in-person session.
The first session, which is completed online and takes 2-3 hours, includes informed consent, questionnaires, and a clinical interview.
The second session, which is completed in-person and takes 4-5 hours, includes a urine drug screen, pregnancy test (if female), computer tasks, and an fMRI scan.
The two follow-up sessions are completed 6- and 12-months after the scan session. These follow-up sessions take 2 hours each, occur online, and include questionnaires and clinical interviews.
After each of the last three sessions (i.e., the scan session and the two follow-up sessions), participants complete daily smartphone surveys for 3 weeks.

Participants will be compensated up to $870 for their participation.
There is no cost for you to participate in the study. Participants can receive travel expense reimbursement of up to $60.
