Study Background The University of Colorado Translational Addiction Imaging Laboratory (TrAIL) is conducting a research study looking at a medication's effect on alcohol use and brain function. The medication we are studying is FDA-approved for other treatments but not yet approved for the treatment of alcohol problems or drinking. Individuals who drink alcohol and who are not trying to/seeking treatment to stop or reduce drinking may qualify to join our compensated study! |

Researchers at CU Anschutz Medical Campus are conducting a study looking at a medication's effect on alcohol use and brain function.
You may qualify for this study if you meet the following criteria.

Eligibility Criteria:
- Ages 21-65
- Drink 20+ alcoholic beverages per week
- Not trying to stop or reduce drinking OR not seeking treatment to reduce or stop drinking
- No current use of psychiatric medications
- No major neurological disorder
- Able to undergo an MRI scan
The studies involve 7-8 study visits over a couple of weeks, some visits will be conducted on the CU Anschutz campus in Aurora, and some will be conducted remotely via phone or Zoom.
During the study visits, you will be asked to complete questionnaires, give urine and blood samples, have two MRI scans, and take either the study medication or a placebo (a placebo is a pill that looks like medicine but it will have no medical effect on you). You will also come to campus to drink alcohol that we will provide. Study participation is confidential.

Participants will be compensated for their time.
